I have been writing stories since I was seven years old. Over the years I've honed my editing skills while working on several novels. Two of these are now published, and a third is in the final stages of editing and will be released next year.
Qualifications: I am a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (Sfep) and have completed and passed their Copyediting 1 and Copy-editing 2 courses.
In 2017, I gained a Masters Degree in Writing and Publishing with Distinction. The course involved editing as well as writing. I also have an MSc in Environmental Policy and Management.
I am a specialist in fiction-editing, with experience of editing novels, novellas, short stories, and flash fiction. I also have experience in editing academic essays and dissertations, web content, and non-fiction. I work with other authors, editing reciprocally, in an international editing group based on Shawn Coyne's Story Grid.
Most of my experience is in the following fiction genres: contemporary, mystery, historical, fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, young adult, children's, and short fiction. I particularly enjoy fantasy.
I am happy to sample-edit up to 500 words of your novel or novella.
If you are interested in seeing some of my writing and editorial work, you can look at the first chapter sample of my latest novel on my blog page.
If I'm not editing, writing, reading, meditating, or drinking tea in the writer's cabin, I may be walking or cycling in the beautiful Scottish hills. I also volunteer one afternoon a week in a local library.
